BIBLIOTEKET SMALL CARPET, HAND KNOTTED TIBETAN KNOT WITH 50% WOOL AND A 50% TENCEL BLEND

SIZE: 255 X 205 CM

DESIGNER: EMMA OLBERS SWEDEN

This carpet by Emma Olbersis for Asplund is designed for the public library in Stockholms newly renovated National Museum.

Biblioteket means library in Swedish. This is a hand-knotted rug with a design that represents a mixture of Emma’s first sketches of the Old Library. With its three arches and three large windows at the top, in the middle rows of books in the old bookshelf and at the bottom the newly laid oak parquet.

It is made in a finely hand-knotted Tibetan knot with 50% wool and a 50% Tencel mix.

TENCEL® is a branded lyocell fibre of botanic origin, extracted from raw materials like eucalyptus. The TENCEL® fibre has many advantages in terms of sustainability Eco-friendly production, due to the closed-loop system. The raw material wood stems from fast-growing forest plantations without cultivating forestland suitable for agriculture. Also, water consumption is 10 – 20 times lower than with cotton.
