At a certain point in the design process, the idea that the entire armchair, including the base, should be made of plywood, cropped up. The Kanu base was therefore cut from flat plywood and given a specific edge radius. The use of the same material was the result of a certain logic and consistency in this product.
The result of the work on the base is the wide, sloping legs. To give the chair depth and elegance, it was decided to paint the base black. Thanks to this treatment, we see a beautiful interplay of light when we look at Kanu. The light reflected on the surface of the legs is almost architectural, it enhances the shape and makes the whole armchair more dynamic.
