Ceramic Austrian Finnish artist Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg (1905–1993) was renowned for her advanced skill in refining porcelain for Arabia Finland. Inspired by the 17th Century chinese technique of Chinese Rice Porcelain, Kjellberg experimented with this time consuming translucent method from the 1930-1940, finally launching the “riz porcellan” series in 1942. Now highly collectible, the delicate rice porcelain is fast becoming scarce.
