The unique series of glass birds known as Birds by Toikka, designed by the legendary Finnish designer Oiva Toikka, took flight in 1972 in the Nuutajärvi glass factory. The collection, which Toikka and the glassblowers worked closely on, brought together his love of nature and blown glass art. When the series' manufacturing moved to the Iittala Glass Factory in 2014, Toikka kept up his close collaboration with the team there. Each mouthblown and the handmade bird is distinctive in every last detail. Because of this, each bird has a unique personality, making it a genuine work of art. The original Flycatcher design from the 1970s is being reintroduced by Iittala. The vibrant bird has a petite, warm copper body and a lemon-coloured beak. Reflects light nicely. a gorgeous house decoration that is a treasured present.
