In the early spring of 1996, Manks was conceived over a hearty bowl of soup at the Museum of Modern Art & Scandinavian Design,
Copenhagen. The founding directors, Paul Fung and Susan Man returned home with the seedlings of an enterprise that grew beyond
expectation. Both ardent collectors of Scandinavian Design and Antiques for 25 years, this husband and wife partnership combined
their suitable strengths to form the first earnest endeavor to introduce Scandinavian Modern Design to Hong Kong.

Manks humble beginnings began in a simple 1960’s loft building tucked away in quiet area now known as Soho. Ten years on,
Manks lovingly restored a neglected 1935 colonial house off Garden Road, overlooking the Hong Kong Zoological & Botanical
Gardens and the Chief Executive's residence. The shophouse as it is fondly known, houses our Modern Design Collection alongside
original museum quality antiques. Attracting a loyal following of discerning collectors, architects and designers, we have gone from
strength to strength. Involved in small and large scale commercial projects, covering hotels, airports and residential developments. |
Importing only top name Scandinavian designers and brands of furniture & lighting to Hong Kong, Manks has tirelessly promoted
the Scandinavian way of life for the past 15 years, introducing the beauty of aesthetics & simplicity married to function. Considered
an authority in the field, businesses have since looked towards her for inspiration and direction. To date, we represent the giants of
Danish Design, Louis Poulsen Lighting, Fredericia, Verpan, Fritz Hansen and Carl Hansen & Son to name a few and distribute out to selected retailers who share the same philosophy. |

In June of 2006, our sister company Manks Quarters was established. A unique real estate business specializing in finding older
character properties for our clients, Manks Quarters addresses the overwhelming need to bring back quality living with a
difference to the region. |
The concept of Manks has enjoyed a healthy degree of success to date. The most rewarding being the cultural influence we have
achieved by introducing a very European way of living to complement the Oriental lifestyle in Hong Kong. Through Manks, we
proudly bring Scandinavian Modern Design and Character Properties to the attention of the discerning and we will endeavour to
continue our calling into the 21st Century. |
